Default junk yard build...tell me if this will work

4.8/5.3 block
5.3 rods
4.8 flat pistons
5.3 heads w/.40 gaskets
6.0 cam

using the flat top pistons and thinner head gaskets to up comp. a little. and using the 6.0 cam because it mildly better than the 5.3 cam.

hoping to get 20 more hp/tq than a stock 5.3. what cha think???

6.0 cam is a waste of time, if you have it out go with something bigger. sounds like a cool build other than that, kinda like an iron L33.

pick up a $125 regrind on ebay if you're going to make it that cheap

get a 212/218 low lift if you're just wanting 20hp more

regrind's aren't worth it in my opinion. I've heard/seen too many lobes go sour cause of them being regrinds. I'd just stick a baby cam in there, ie <= 212/218 low lift, and call it a day.

Well hot damn I was just about to post about doing the same exact thing using a couple of junkyard motors, however one question remains, how much compression will be gained by using the flat top pistons? (What is the volume of the dish in the 5.3 pistons?) (sorry if I am Hi-Jacking)
