Compression is better on a stock ls1, but a stock 6.0 has better flowing heads in the 317's vs the 241's. Mill the 317's, throw on an ls6 intake and let her rip. That combo will be stronger than a ls1.

If you get a LS1, get the 01+ as they had the same intake as the Z06.

WHY? LS1 with tr224 cam and full bolt-ons many have made 400hp with them
6.0 same setup 380hp takes a good set of cylinder heads to break 400
I think the LS1 gun drilled light weight crankshaft causes the difference.
Yes the 6.0 will make more torque because of cubic inches

They both good motors i dont feel one is that much better than the other. What ever one is more availbe and in price range is what i would choose!
more about the ls1 crank please?

If you happen to find the LS1 Cheaper than the 6.0 I'd prob go with that just to be different. Almost all the guys go for the 6.0's. Usually because the LS1's are same price or more expensive sometimes. Every now and then you will come across a cheap LS1 though. I saw one local on craigslist about 4 months ago for $350 or $400. It was the complete block with no accessories or pcm which is fine, you can reuse the 4.8L accessories and pcm. Just get the pcm tuned.

I actually found one 30-45 mins away for $300, but the listing is 2 months old.

Goes to show you deals can be found.
