04 5.3 single cab.. just curious. so when they say 295 hp in the manual, what does that turn out to be at the wheels. I know its not 295.. anyone know via dyno or in general.. stock except for a 40 series flow. single inlet to dual outlet

You subtract somewhere between 15-20% for drivetrain losses. A lot of guys are dynoing around 240-250 at the wheels

I have seen these trucks pull stock anywhere from 240 - 269 hp stock. find a dyno and run it!

Don't expect too much difference. They didn't send me a dyno chart for a 2003 5.3 with my HPP-3, so after I asked three times they sent one in the mail. It was clear to see why they didn't...an 8 HP gain on 93 octane and 6 HP gain on 87 octane. Torque gains were 7 & 5. I think all I got from mine was pinging. I've pulled it and reinstalled the factory tune.

Try a nelson tune, or if you like the handhelds a lot of guys are doing predator.

My only experience with a hand-helds is the HPP-3. I just got my custom tuned PCM back yesterday and will install it today. I'm going to keep my HPP-3 just so I can make changes to tranny functions and speedometer corrections for different wheel/tires sets. The prevalent advice from most on this forum is to get a custom tune if you want to see any real gains. I should have listened to them sooner.
