When Hypertech or similar companies tell you how much power you will gain with their product it is almost never PEAK hp/TQ. It is somewhere lower in the RPM range where you see what they are claiming and even then I would divide their claimed #s in half.

With the HPP3 in my truck I dyno'd 1hp more and 1 ft.lb tq less.

Get a full custom tune. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Ohh, I dyno'd 242 stock with a K&N drop in filter on my 285hp rated 5.3L.

yea sounds like a custom tune is the only way to go.. especially if its a slapper!! lol
