Default k&n DROP IN FILTERS - OIL DESTOY maf

How many of you have actually had a MAF destroyed by the filter oil form an oiled filter? If so, how long? Was it from over oiling the filter?

I put one in and a code was tripped. The dealership got pissy with me for my K&N.

Oily, yes. Destroyed, no. Just spray it with some MAF cleaner. CRC brand is great, but I'm sure there are others. Doesn't hurt to do this periodically anyway. I do it on my truck which has a CAI, and my wife's Taurus with a drop in K&N.

It won't happen unless you over-oil. Just be cautious with the recharge oil, and do use CRC on occassion.

Don't over oil, I found out that stuff really builds up gunk in no time. Never heard of MAF failing that way.

The oil sticks to the elements on the MAF, that oil is made to catch dirt and stuff. So when it gets on the elements, it throws the readings off. Then trips a code.

Oh and what is this MAF you speak of

If the dealership told you your MAF was "destroyed" by filter oil, they are just out to screw you over so they can sell you a new MAF. Get a 6 dollar can of MAF cleaner and you're set for the next 10 over-oilings.
