Default Kill Speed Limiter

My '02 Duramax truck seems to have a speed limiter at 95 mph. Anybody know how to disable the limiter?

My HPP3 took away the speed limiter on my truck.

I have LS1edit, but I didn't think that worked on the Duramax. I can't bring up the Carputing site from my work computer; do they have a special version for the Duramax?

did it take it away literally, or did you just raise it higher?... because all mine did was raise it to 128...

EDIT doesn't work on the DMax. What you want is the Duramaximizer and the Tech IV box. That will give you two ***** for 0-100HP and another 40-168HP that can be stacked together! and your 120MPH speedo

OK thanks, Hit Man X! WOW that's a pricey box at $2040! And if I understand correctly, it only raises the speed limiter to 120 mph. I was going to try and get the truck up to 130 mph on Speed Week out at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I'm also wondering if I can do that on the stock 300 hp. If I can, maybe it would be cheaper to just slow down the VSS pulse train to the PCM so computer still thinks the truck is going less than 95 mph.

Try unplugging the VSS cable .. try that out. I think I saw in Edit (if I understood right) that the truck tables for shifting and speed are thrown out and use a seperate set of shiftpoints and rev limiters if the VSS is bad. Just carry a GPS with you .. and you should be fine.

Thanks Flyer, that's a good idea. Good information also. The problem now is the wife says I'm not running the truck she helped pay for at the Salt Flats!

No, it took it away figuratively.
I set it to 128 I think. Doesn't really matter though here in So Cal. The section of the 101 freeway I drive daily on you can never go that fast (safely ) unless its 4am. Every other time its jam packed.
