Default lack of power after 2000

hey guys,, my truck recently has lost all power after 2000rpms in first gear. i have a stock 5.3 now and a tune from pcm for less. also a shift kit which i installed myself. it has more get up and go power in second than in first. i have lost all my 1st gear towing capabilities. the tranny doesn seem to be slipping as the motor just doesnt seem to rev up. its almost like its holding itself back. it has a perfect smooth idle. I havent a chance to hook up autotap, but i thought id post this tonight to see what you guys think. whats sad is i just now noticed the lack of power. it could of been that way ever sence i got the pcm tune, because ive babied my truck since i installed the new motor. 2002 5.3 oh yeah,, i noticed it pings alot when i hit the gas slightly when im crusing at 2000rpms.

Check your injectors, check the tune for proper injector size, check fuel pressure, log your LTRIM values. Sounds like its not getting enough fuel.

I am thinking it sounds like a transmission problem. If it runs fine in the upper gears. How long has the shift kit been in? It is possible to put a too-long bolt in one position in the valve body to where the bolt will contact the reaction drum and this will put the trans in a bind but I am not sure which gears it would affect. Just throwing out an idea.

His shift kit's been in for a long while if I remember right. I think BT might be on to something there.

Here is an example that may be similar to the issue:

My tahoe's fuel pump is going out. It whines pretty loud at idle. When I hooked up EFI live to it, I was very suprised to see +20 LTRIM values. This is a stock 2001 vehicle w/ 90K miles. Under load at low rpms, it pings like a ****. Its basically gutless at WOT. It didn't used to be this way and its progressively gotten worse. The lack of fuel is causing my issue. It was pretty peppy a couple of years back, now its a major dog. Time to replace the pump and give it a good fuel system cleaning and tune up.

Your saying that it pings hard and had no power above 2000 rpms makes me thing fuel problem.

to day i noticed it has no power about 2000 in all gears. i rememeber passing someone about 3 months ago and thinking,, man,, i didtn speed up as fast as i though i would. and i think its just getting worse. ive also ran my tank almost dry like 3 tanks in a row. i had to pump in 26 gallons all 3 times. the pump wines off and on.
