Lakewood traction bars
Well along time ago I picked up a set of Lakewood polished traction bars and I am trying to see if I can put em on my GMC 2003 Sierra ext. cab, sb.
I saw a post a while ago that said something about needing new extended Ubolts or something. I have tried lining up the bars under my truck and they definitely need something to fit properly.
I got em for like $30 so if they help traction I would like to put em on. My truck doesnt have any mods but I will be lowering it this week (with a hotchkis and Doetsch tech setup). Do you guys think it would even help installing these bars on a truck with no power mods?
Anyway if someone could let me know what I need to do to install the Lakewood bars please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Lakewood traction bars
the lakewood generics are made for vehicles with the leafs under the axle. so you will have to buy slightly longer U-bolts than the kit comes with. and they will take a little adjusting to get them to fit right. the install is pretty basic.
however, they now make a set designed for our trucks. don't know if they work any better or not.
they will help yur traction but don't expect miracles. i can still get a good bit of spin from my stock tires. aftermarket tires will help quite a bit. zerog10201 has 285 GT2s on his truck and hooks hella better than me. i have one pic of the bars on my site but didn't really have time sunday to take any more detailed pics. and i know i won't have time this weekend..i'll be in MS at CRUISIN' THE COAST!!! <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
as for putting them on a stock truck: i don't know about you but i could get a good bit of spin stock so i'd say go for it, unless they affect yur ride with the drop.
