Was this pitting on the surface? I wonder if it could have been left over gasket material. I would pop off the manifolds/headers, and pressurize the coolant system. Is there bubbling in the coolant system?

Get a video on cold start should have some condensation but after up to temp and running for atleats half hour driving there shouldn't be any water

What engine is this ? Gen I, II, III or LS ? If you are sure it is coolant, have you pressurized the system yet? Nothing cleans like hot antifreeze! Pull the plugs and look for some clean or wet plugs if you don't have a system pressure tester. Give us more info on the engine.

its a gen III 99 4.8, it was definitely pitting. i have not pressure tested the system.

Best way to post pics is Photobucket. Upload your pics there, then copy the IMG code and paste it here.

Call Autozone & ask if they have a coolant system pressure tester in their tool rental program. Usually pay a fee up front but when you return it you get your $ back. Pressurize your cooling system and see if it will hold pressure for 5 minutes. This is a basic test but a good place to start.

Well there your problem felpro head gaskets suck..ur best bet to go to gm dealer n get most head gaskets...pop your number one plug out put to technology n see if any coolant onto piston....if so have fun
