Question Leaky oil drain pan bolt? 03 GMC Sierra 5.3

I have an 03 GMC with the 5.3 and i have always done my own oil changes except one time. Recently i noticed that there was oil around the bottom of the oil pan. It looks as if the oil is around the oil drain bolt. There is not much oil leaking, not enough to cause a notice on the dipstick or drip on driveways. There also is some oil around the oil filter but I think this is just from the oil around the drain bolt.

Anyone have any ideas about this? GMC said that the oil pan drain bolt is reuseable and doesnt need to be replaced. I know the bolt has a rubber washer too and magnetic tip but GMC said nothing about replacing the washer either. I was planning to take it in to GMC since its under warranty but if anyone has info on this issue please let me know.

thanks

Mine seeps just a bit... enough to look 'wet' around it... My transfer case is the same way.

Mine's not enough to produce any actual drips.

So this doesn't bother you? Since my trucks under warranty I was figuring maybe the dealer could fix the issue.

It honestly doesn't bother me much... I didn't really think about it, but it could just be from me being messy with my oil changes. I'm not too sure.

I can take some pics later, if you want to compare?

Just get a new gromet and put it on for the next oil change.... That's how mine was sligtly wet around the seal but no drips.... It completely tore when I took it off last time and It needed to be changed... it's like a dollar or something.

yea well I just bought a new drain plug rubber grommet for like $1.27. So that should solve the problem. The ignorant service person I spoke to at one GMC dealership said that the grommets dont need to be replaced

I went to another dealer who said they should be replaced almost every oil change, which I will do for now on. This whole issue was started becuz of one service guy who told me that the grommet doesnt need to be replaced. I should know better than to listen those service guys.

Oh well thanks for the posts guys
