There is a # stamped into the side of the head. It's not raised like I would have thought. It is punched into the head 00581126271341875

Ouch. Any chance you can return the motor for a refund? Your tranny will NOT fit with that crank flange ( not enough clearance for the TC and flexplate ).

it looks like that guy flat out lied to you. i would head over there with a few friends and get your money back. the only iron head that was ever put on a gen 3 motor was the 99/00 6.0's

So everybody is positive this is a 2000 or older engine and wil NOT work for me and my 4L65E?

For sure, get your money back! He either lied outright or was lied to, but it should not be your problem...

they are 6.0 iron heads and prety sure it is a 99/00 shortblock. if it is an older shortblock it will not work for you at all and is worth very little money. it might be worth $250 just for the block.

that crank is sticking out too far, it should be flush. now the only question to answer is. is that an adapter that makes it stick out or is that the actual crank. look at the adapter above. i think that is the actual crank.

I called the guy. He seemed ok with taking it back. I can tell he wasn't the one lying. He asked if I could swap the crank to a newer style and that would fix it? Would it? I don't think I want to do that anyway. I don't want to spen more on a mototr that may have 200K miles on it for all I know. It's not the motor that was advertised to me. So, could I, if I wanted to, swap the crank?

I think it the crank, not the adapter.
