Lets Talk E-Fan Set Ups
I got some questions about e-fan setups. I have a 99 GMC Sierra Reg Cab with a 5.3 and the 28 inch radiator for a little over a month now.The stock clutch fan is driving me nuts. I want to change to a e-fan setup but don't want the flex-a-lite stuff(bad experience). I want to buy new stuff and would like it to turn on and off by itself. I was looking at the Painless Wiring, or Zirgo products. Any one have any experience with these? Also what cfm would I need to keep my truck running cool? Can I run big fan or 2 smaller fans? Any info ,advice will be great.
Thanks
Danny

I made a custom bracket and run two 14" perma cool 2900 cfm fans. I think they were only about $85 each new. I beleive most fan kits are around 5000- 5500cfm total.
I use a Nelson wiring harness and the pcm controls the fans. Cools fine, rarely over 190 degrees, AC actually feels colder at idle.

Are you on a budget? You can't beat the look and install ease of the 05 truck fans, but its more expensive cause you have to get the 34" radiator as well. Looks great though, and I used the Nelson harness everything plugged in easy and works perfect. Total cost was somewhere around $500.

I'd go with the LS1 fans and either the DC Controller or the nelson harness (might need a tune though).

Yes I'm on a budget. I have the 05 fans installed on my Tahoe and they work great and look good too. But I don't want to have to buy another radiator. I was looking for LS1 fans but all the ones in my area that I find are jacked up or they want to much for used parts. To keep this thing cool I have to have atleast 5,000 cfm correct?
Fogel- what year Crown Vic are your fans off of? Does it also have a shroud? Was there alot of modifing to get them to work?CFM?How much do they run$$? How do you have them hooked up? Sorry for all the damn questions.
