Default lets talk gas mieage...again

i'm think of doing a auto to manual swap. my gas mileage sucks in my hoe. like 13 highway. so how much may my mileage improve going from a awd with tt3000 to 2wd with a 5or 6speed? keeping my 3.73 gears. the hoe is stock besides tune, e-fans, tt3000, and magnaflow muffler.

Did your e-fans help you at all?
I would bet that you could get considerably better fuel mileage, at least city mileage, if you switched to a manual transmission considering your current converter. Gas mileage will go up but the resale value will drop considerably I would think.

Not to mention you will have to drive the thing like 100,000 miles to pay for the conversion in fuel saving with the money it will cost to do the swap.

+1. the cost i more than what its worth. if you just want a manual, more power to you, but do a few more bolt-ons like headers, pulleys, catback and maybe lower gears if you do mostly city driving. i get like 20 mpg on the highway (i do about 100 miles a day), but with my 33" tires, its a pig in the city.

16.9 @ 70 mph here. I am going to switch back to the Autotrac t-case sometime within the next few months and see if that helps at all.

well i want a manual too don't get me wrong. my 4wd silverado got 21 at 80 mph hwy with a camed ls1. plus i'm sure i will need a new trany in the future once i start upgrading stuff. i don't plan on selling the tahoe so i don't care about resale. i have a 383 i trying to finish building at some point that i'm sure will kill some mileage. bu if i start with a higher number before it drop then it won't be that bad. but 11-13 stock is just wrong.

i would maybe check your tune. when mine was stock, i was getting 13mpg on a bad day. your converter may be killing it, but there might be something wrong in the tune, it jut sounds too low, even for a heavy tahoe.
did you do a full tune or only for WOT because that can make a difference?
also, at what speed are you locking the coverter?

Default Tahoe MPG

I saw 18.2mpg at 75mph on my last trip(wind at my back)but...that was before my last mod,the Radix install. I will be going away for the holiday and I am curious what my numbers will be now with the addition of Radix and upgraded tune. My headers and tune pushed my mileage up by almost 2mpg. My conservative cam selection and install with new tune did not effect my mpg. Electric fans helped a little bit also. New dyno #s are 400rwhp and 419ftlbs. torque with 6.6lbs boost and 3.4" pulley. I think I am done for now...considering a detroit truetrac next.

Having AWD will certainly lower your mileage too.

I'm getting 20-22 on the highway. Then again I tuned it to do that.
