When I changed out my rotors for some slotted ones at 30k miles, the pads looked almost brand new. I tried some thermo quiet pads, 2 sets, and both of them squeeked like crazy! I switched back to the stock pads, and they do an awesome job! Chevy actually did something right!

Ive been through 2 pairs in the front, just changed the rear for the first time and have had the rotors turned once in the front.

Yeah, I have been thinking the same till I hear the grinding from the rear, metal to metal. I got 53k on my dail now. I ended up putting stock back on, pads and rotorsl. Just couldn't wait any longer from my other post about needing pads and rotors. Its funny, my 98 s10 4cyl I used to have went through front pads at like 15k!!. The thing stopped on a dime but sucks I had to replace them that soon. Glad to be rid of though. Just thought I'd share.

I rotate my tires every oil change and with pretty much thrashing my truck the brakes havn't worn much. I'm a toyota tech and honestly toyota sequioa and land cruiser brakes i've seen only last 15k but avg. 20-25k. Cept toyota rotors are good quality and can be resurfaced quite easily GM rotors and drums warp like the tides comming in.

Almost 50k here and my rear pads are in need of replacement. Going to try some Hawks along with turning the rotors. May as well paint the calipers while I'm at it. Front pads are A OK.

61K and still plenty of pad, no vibrations, and great stopping power!

I bought a set of Hawk pads a while back, but they're still sitting on the shelf because the OEM pads show little or no signs of wear after 50K miles. Hard to believe, but true. As far as the pads wearing the rotors out that's a new one on me. You would think the brakes would be making one hell of a racket if the rotors were actually being eaten up by these unusually hard pads. My rotors furtunately don't show any signs of wear like that. As far as the rear rotors costing $450 I'm not surprised. The rear rotor is a rotor/drum combination assembly. I don't know why they were designed this way, but they are a very heavy complicated design.
