Building a 408 with boost in the future. What lifter should I get? Would rather not have link-bars but I want a reliable lifter.

If you want a stock style lifter, then get the LS7 lifters.

why not a link bar setup?

an LS7 (7,000rpm) lifter is great but I honestly hate the idea of a plastic tray holding a lifter. you can do the CTS-V (8,000rpm) lifter. you can also go to a morel single lifter that's about 200.00 a set yet you will still need new trays.

I personally went with morel link bar lifters in my new setup for my 08

What does the link bar gain me? Are you still able to change a cam without pulling the heads when you use link bars?

Link bars just keep the lifters from rotating in the bore.

Check out the brian tooley lifters

Link bar lifters add unnecessary weight to the valve train. I know a few grams doesn't seem like much, but multiply that by 16 and imagine that at at 7000rpms. Physics get crazy when a few thousand rpms get thrown in the mix.

You'll have peace of mind running LS7 lifters.
