Default List of planned mods for my LS1...yay or nay?

Ive got an 89 chevy scsb fullsize, 4 link, lowered to the ground and I have a 70k 98 camaro ls1/4l60e thats getting dropped in. Id like to do all my mods at once before it gets dropped in for good. Here is what i have planned:

-its already got the corvette single in/single out fuel system from s&p installed with new injectors
-emisions and egr removed
-01-02 f-body manifolds(due to clearance issues), 2.5" pipes, no cats, h-pipe then right back into some magnaflows
-walbro fuel pump(part #???) in a fuel cell
-asp underdrive pulley
-totally custom ram air with k&Ns
-ls6 intake
-possibly a cam? recomendations??? what about price/ease of install?
-computer tune on 89

how does that sound? Im just throwing stuff out there so if im off somewhere let me know
thanks alot

Cam recommendations will vary, but Id go with a 224/224 or a 222/228 depending on what you want from it. With the higher compression from an LS1 you will need to run at least 91 preferably 93 I would think. Alot of the guys running the LS6 intake get nice gains from ported throttle bodies. Check out some of the internal engine threads. If the F-body manifolds fit, why not get some nice LT headers for it???
What route have you decided to go for tuning?? That will be very important with any cam.
Good Luck

hey jimmy welcome to ls1tech. i also post over on FSC.
looks like you got a good list going, i'd also recomend you put in a 3000 stall converter or more, depending on the cam you choose.LS1's really love some extra stall and itll be easier to put in right now.as for a cam...what gears do you have?what are you going to do w/ your truck?

i love the response time on this board

ok..not sure what i was thinking but ok ill go 93 tune for sure then.
Im trying to get the most bang for the buck...is the ls6 intake really worth it? Or would an aftermarket one($$$?) be better?
ill check into the ported tb and im pretty sure im stuck with manifolds...they are about 1/2" away from my a-arms and firewall right now.

For tuning i was just planning on sending it into westers, nelson or one of those places and listing all my mods etc....

ahhh thanks a stall ill check into also. I currently have 3.42s i think but im going to be rebuilding it and sticking a posi so i could change if it will help.

The trucks pretty extensivly modded: bagged, bodydropped, pretty much new custom frame under it, suicide doors ......bla bla bla. Its going to see alot of show time but id also like to take it out on weekends and do some street racing and maybe take it to the track a few times a year(far away from me)

Im not going to start throwing crap, but I will give my experience with Westers a fat . I think for $500 I deserve a little say. It took 6 weeks for me to get a totally worthless tune that luckily I had redone by some one else quick enough so as not to destroy my engine. He does good generic tunes for near stock vehicles, but he didnt do **** for me. When I called and reported back to him (nicely) how his tune seemed to be off, he said that I must not really have 43lb injectors and he wouldnt send a retune until I sent him proof that they were 43lb injectors. He wanted a part number from ASM.
Do yourself a favor. Buy a tuner program and have someone help you at first and learn things from there. If you plan on modding this thing (which it apprears like you do) you will need to learn to tune it.
*stepping down from the *
A stall is a great idea though

somewhere around a 224 cam,a 3000-3200 converter, and some 3.73's would have you haulin *** and still be very driveable ,its all about the tuning. ALL the stuff to do a cam is around 8-900 bucks(new)but theres plenty of used cams stuff around too. your best bet for tuning i would say is to get HPtuners or edit and do it yourself then you know its done right
or you could just leave it all stock and put a nice shot of happy gas on there

hmm i didnt realize a cam would be such an expensive mod..plus ive never done any internal engine work so maybe i should put that on hold for my next motor?

Might be a stupid question but what exactly does a stall converter do?

a looser converter allows the engine to get into its power band quicker ,and usually multiplies your torque more than stock.bigger cams generally move the power up the rpm range.
you can easily install a cam while the engine is in the truck without pulling the oil pan or intake, unlike a old school sbc, so you dont have to do it right now if you cant afford it

While you've got the motor out I would HIGHLY recommend replacing the rod bolts with ARP units! It's fairly cheap insurance.

And, I'm quite happy with my 224/.563/112 cam. Great balance between low end torque and high rpm power. Can't wait to see this project completed!
