How do you feel the Predator compares to the Edge for non-track use (regular/performance) driving?

It would have been interesting to see how the Westers tuning would have did in this comparison.

BTW, how do you like your suncoast tranny?
The Suncoast takes some getting used to. It was worth about .2 in quarter over bone stock. It shifts rough on the 4-5 shift without a "big" tune in it.

My goal was to run a 13.9x in the truck, and I thought that I'd run quicker by stacking the Edge, but the hiccups cost too much time, and wouldn't launch at 2500.

I think the Edge is the most sophisticated product for diesel trucks, and it is SO COOL. But for my truck and drag racing, it doesn't work right.

Edge is supposed to release a "race box" for the LLY come January. I'll see if I can get one.

Some people think I'm bashing Edge, but if they could have seen how much trouble I went through to do this test, they would see that I must have been pretty determined to go faster at any cost.

Van Aaken is supposed to have an LLY harness box soon, and so is Banks. I'll just have to wait for now.

I think if you get everything sorted out you will be in the 13's. I mean, with the Edge w/ Attitude level 5, intake, and full turbo-back, and suncoast you should be really close. Not to mention the stacking programs, however, you could be right, that might be causing more headaches than help.

For towing, my favorite is the TTS Tow Tune. 100% transparent. Runs just like stock but faster. I've logged about 15,000mi up to 17,000lb with it without a hiccup, 7,000 miles towing.

I haven't had the Predator on long enough to really evaluate it fairly for daily driving. I normally run the TTS monday-friday. I will start to spend more time with the Predator. It seems good, and I've done some level 3 towing with it, but not any high temp heavy towing.

With my truck, the "turbo bark" issue made the Edge worrysome for daily driving. My wife won't drive the truck with the Edge. Incidently, the bark happens even on level 0 (off) with the Edge. Not very often, but it does happen.

I'm working on some "tricks" to get there. Will report back when finished testing.

What do you mean by "turbo bark"?

Thanks for posting up the comparison, that must've been fun switching all those boxes in and out.

During a shift, the truck bucks and a loud PSSST! sound comes from the motor. I believe it's known as compressor stall. The LLY has a variable vane turbo the LB7 doesn't have. The tuner must deal with controlling the turbo during shifting.

I know about the variable vane turbo, was just wondering what I should listen for on my Dads Edged LLY. I've never heard anything like that from his truck on the shifts.

Thanks for the explanation.

Not all LLY Edge equipped trucks do it. Edge is working on the problem. If his doesn't do it, don't worry. You will KNOW if it does it. It's not subtle.
