Wait wait wait... This appears to be a confusion on what a long block vs. a short block it.
A long block is a nearly complete engine, as in heads, rotating assembly, essentially, everything that makes an engine an engine.
A short block is just a block and rotating assembly. No heads, no intake, no oil pan.
If you're planning on putting a certain set of heads on the engine, I'd get a short block and save some money.
If you're looking to just swap the engines, you're going to need a long block.
