it is more pronounced when the truck is cold. so maybe it is a leak. could I put exhaust wrap on it?

I would prob agree it isn't a leak.. do this^.. They are alot thinner then the manifolds are inturn letting more noise out..

Yep, same noise here; double and triple checked it, no leaks. It's just the headers.

If the noise is a sharp ticking sound, it's a leak. Anything else is likely just primary tube noise. Like mentioned, the factory manifolds are thicker than the headers, so with the headers you hear more of a muffled, really quick whooshing sound as the exhaust gases blast through the tubes.

An easy way to find a leak is to do a seafoam treatment and crawl under there during the running period. All the smoke will quickly help you find any leaks.
