Default Longer crank? pics

I'm in the process of doing a v6 to v8 swap. I just recently bought a Lq4 from a local guy. I already new it had iron heads, which plans of replacing were already thought about. But upon stripping it down i noticed another thing the crank spacer... or is it? My plans were to build it and put a T56 behind it, but is it in vain now? here are some pics

I was told it was from a '02 w/68k. Also will I atleast be able to bolt up my stock 5-speed to it? The 6-speed will come later. Thanks for ANY help!!! I hope I didn't screw myself on this one

it wasn't from an 02 if it has iron heads. To my knowledge only the 00-01's had iron heads. Everything newer had the 317 heads.

I've been told it's a much bigger pain in the *** to swap the 00-01 engines but it can still be done.

i dont think its from a 02 id say either a 99-00 because of the iron heads. the later years they switched to aluminum heads.

i dont remember exactly but i think the earlier ones used a different crank too.

Ok the question is am I screwed? I have a complete motor so I can bring the computer to GM( i know some people) and have them run it to see what it was? I can build it if I can work with it. If not i'll button it back up and sell it. I didn't tear into it just removed wiring harness and such.

unless you want a 4L80e behind it you'll need a different crank... hope you didn't spend too much on it. no matter what that computer came out of, that motor is from a 99-00

He's right, but you can swap cranks and get a set of 241's for cheap. Search on here and on tech for a crank, unless you just dont want to spend the money on it.I would spend 300 bucks(guess) on a crank and heads and run it.Around here I can pick up a lq9 for 1500.bucks FWIW.

I swapped mine out with no problem, the crank is just a touch longer, but the mounting surface was different too, so that countered the crank length. It ended up being .030 different than my stock 4.3l. You have to measure from mounting surface on engine to mounting surface of the flywheel. I put my stock 5 speed behind it, and it works fine. I would assume it would work fine with your setup to.
