Default lookin for a head/cam for 4.8 5spd v8

will stay N/A.

lookin for a head/cam to help me get into the low 13's or better.

have 3.73 gears, just intake/dumped exhaust now. headers and head/cam are my next choices, than a new throttle body and tune.

can someone help me pick out a good head/cam combo?

thanks!

224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA
or
224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA

both say
1700-6600 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning on automatic transmission cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended.

i will still get it tuned but i have a 5spd...will that make a difference?

im sticking with the 4.8. my friends brother owns a customization shop. going to talk to him about a custom turbo setup...so my 'cam' choice might change depending on this conversation. but it won't be a full blown crazy turbo setup....as i would like to stick with the 5spd transmission...

I also have a 4.8 5-spd and i'm just wondering if you've run it at the track yet. I've only ran mine in the 8th, there's not a quarter mile track close to home. But w/an intake and exhaust and a very badly slipping clutch, my truck pulled a 10.1 at 70MPH. I have the stock 3.42's. I also just put a fiberglass rollpan and hood on my truck, think i lightened the truck up about 200lbs by removing the bumper, reese, spare tire, factory steel hood. I'm figuring w/a good clutch i should be able to pull a high 9 at least.

yes you can get the 224 on a 114..
and it is much easier to tune than the 112..
just depends on how much time you are willing to invest into it..

no track time yet, been wanting to go.

i got 3.73's, just intake/exhaust. some ppl here said i could hit mid 15's or better.

i know ill be doin a 4hi launch though doin a little practice with hit, revving to redline letting it drop to 4-4.5k and doing a 'fast slip' of the clutch.

Yuck, a TR224 114 in a 4.8L

How about this single pattern profile: 218/218 111
It has the same amount of overlap @ .05 specs and 3* less @ .006 specs so, idle qualities will be slightly better.

For the TR224 112, we could do the same thing. Except we'd tigthen the LSA even more. 218/218 109. Same overlap @ .05 specs and 3* less @ .006 specs.

BTW, on both profiles the intake centerline is installed straight up to make the operating ranges similar to the TR224 camshafts.
