If you wanted to stay aluminum, Scoggin Dickey has a pretty good LS2 forged 402 going. You get all the needed conversion pieces necessary too. But the only downside is I hope you can tune without knock sensors.

I saw the 402 LS2, but I think anything over 400 cid is going to be outta my price range.
It really depends on what I find once we tear the engine down. If the block is salvageable (I'm almost sure that it is) then I'm going to go 383. If not, I guess a 402/408 of some sort would be the only choice.
