Default Looking for a cam recommendation...

Been doing a lot of searching around lately and still cant really decide on what cam I want to put in my truck. Here are the specs of the truck and besically what Im looking for. I have been trying to decide whether or not to do this in my truck but finally have decided to go ahead with it full force!

Year of truck:2004
Model:Silverado SS
Trans:stock
Converter: stock
Gear:stock
Tires:305/40/22
List of current mods: cat back exhaust, CAI, JET chip,
Possible future mods: whatever is needed for a cam
Goals for truck: gain some extra hp from the cam swap. Not sure exactly where the mods will stop after that...
Uses of the truck: daily driver

Basically I want something with an aggressive lope that makes good low end but comes alive and really pulls arond 2500-3000 RPM. Cam gurus, please recommend me a cam and any supporting mods I need to do to make it work. torque converter, shift kit, servos, tune, etc. thanks in advance!!

First you should get a custom tune...then some longtubes. A shift kit and 3200 stall converter would be good. Then maybe just a tsp220

I would say a 228r on a 3600 converter ......IMO a 220 would leave alot on the table in a 6.0 ...just my .2

Def need headers and a converter. The cam has to be able to breath. I just ordered a 226/230 for my 6L and a 3200. Thats a great daily driven combo. Ive even seen many guys going with a 3600 and loving em. All depends on what you want. Also, that "chip" you have will have to be removed and you'll have to get a real tune for your truck. There are several vendors on this site that can help you out with tuning your truck. You must be tuned when running a converter and once again when you do a cam swap.

Yea that "chip" wasnt my idea at all. I bought the truck with that thing in it. I was looking into Wheatley for a tune no matter what I decide to put on the truck. That sounds like a good candidate as a cam as well. Been doing some digging on what kind of setups other people are running and their reviews on their own setups. Maybe I will just end up doing headers, a shift kit with servos and a good tune for now. Maybe a 90mm TB as well and see how I like it from there...

When I bought the truck it had some kind of intake on it. The tubing seems to be 4 inch with a large spectre air filter on the end but the maf looks like it necks down right before the filter. I will have to take some measurements and include some pics as well to help identify it.

Can you elaborate on the LS7 intake setup with TB? is it a bold on mod or do i need an x-link or throttle body harness adapter like for the 90mm TB?

I would speak to pat g for a custom cam he is awesome at it and is highly recommended by many others as well. He is well k ow for hitting cam specs right on the money . He recently spec a cam for me and took plenty of time to discuss all options and answer all my questions . For the price of $25 u can't go wrong.
