i got a flowmaster single muff and it sounds good!!!

 

Dont do that. I tried that, sounds ok but sucks for performance.

 

cherry bomb? extreme? i fell in love with the sound on my last truck that i bought one for my nnbs too. with three cats it sounds great.

 

I think my flowmaster 40 sounds louder at 1/4 throttle then it does at WOT. I'm looking at the hooker aerochamber dumped as I don't know any other good options. I want to hear it at normal cruising but like you said be able to hold a clear conversation and then at WOT it sound pissed off!

 

Which ever muffler I get, it has to drown out the ticking of the headers. The sound resembles pre-ignition.

 

Update,

I went with an Insynerator muffler. I just had the muffler shop replace just the muffler, so headers/ORY to stock pipe, to new muffler to stock pipe again. I have never heard of Insynerator, but the sound is nice. Kinda sounds like a cherry bomb under medium throttle, but mellows out at cruise speed. WOT makes my "little engine that could" sound aggressive. I hope the local police like it enough to leave me alone. For a single exhaust, it is kinda loud.
