I bought one back in '96 for the 95 Mustang my wife was driving at the time. It self destructed one week out of warranty and they would not even cover part of it. I ended up putting new bearings in it myself. The ceramic stuff people are talking about is not a "coating" it is the actual ***** in the ball bearings-they are a proprietary design and the manufacturer of them only sells to Powerdyne and Powerdyne wont sell to you. I rebuilt it with regular parts store sealed bearings and it lasted a couple months longer than it did stock that time. Somewhere back around 1998 seems like, they had an internal re-design and I ended up buying a new updated compressor. Never had any more probs after that. The key to a successful Powerdyne is pullying it to make enough boost and then getting your fueling right. It heats the air very little so it can be setup to perform nicely. I had that Stang running 7.9 1/8th mile on a bone stock motor- I mean completly stock except for the spark plugs. It went 10.30 off the showroom so it can make some serious power.
So do you go for a Powerdyne or not.......? I would say it just depends on your goals and how much custom work you are willing to do to make it perform really well.

It's the goodwill of sc's!
Would'nt make more than 2-3 lbs of boost from the get go on my 97 truck, and that was after ya got it up to 3500 rpms. No set up for good belt tensioning, and after getting a smaller belt to make 6 lbs of boost, it burned the bearings up after a 1/4 mile drive around the block.
I sent it back and recieved it back 2 weeks later, still only able to make 4 lbs of boost, and a several hundred $ to show for it.
Not worth the $2500 it cost. You'd be $ ahead to spend the $2500 on a cam, exhaust, and pcm tuning, and be $ ahead, not to mention go faster!
