considerable gains over ls1 ported heads but Im wondering about a heads up with ls6 style heads or the real test would be against afr's

this is crazy though
6100...........491.0......570.3................... ..521.1.......605.2

a gain of 30+ tq and hp

A very interesting proposition indeed! Unfortunately I don't own a dyno to test all this on. The peak flow of the Edelbrock head is about the same as our Stage 2 LS6 CNC head. The flow under the curve is different as well as the runner volumes. Throughout most of the flow testing we've done, we've seen a diminishing return on airflow above 300cfm when testing through a radius plate that mimics the stock rectangular GM intake manifold opening. Mainly for this reason we designed our first program towards street applications. We see very little or no loss of flow at lift points between .200"-.500". As far as comparing against AFR's I'm not sure which to compare. Our 215 head falls some where in bewteen.

We should soon see results of these heads on a stock bottom end LS2 SSR application with a Magnusson. I'll post up the info when I get it.

was there any question as to whether they would? i'm sure edelbrock didn't spend a ton of money working with LPE to come up with a useless cylinder head.

This is WCCH cnc program for the edelbrocks, has nothing to do with LPE

it does have to to with LPE. even though WCCH finish ported the heads themselves, it was the better design of the head that lead to the big power numbers. LPE assisted Edelbrock in designing the head. they do CNC port the as customer bought cylinder heads, but there is more to the head than it's final porting. as shown in the test, both heads were ported by WCCH and the Edelbrock made more power because of it's superior design, not because WCCH ported that head better than their other head.

Yep... with the notable exception of LPE's old L98 vette heads, all heads they are involved with seem to do well.

Those old L98's sure sucked for the money!
