Default Lost a 1/2 a pound of boost...

... when we installed a Thunder Racing CheaTR cam I expected to lose a bit more and was ready to do another pulley swap to regain the boost. At this point it looks like a pulley swap would just gain more boost

This cam has shown a 30 rwhp gain on a car. Im not sure how much a supercharged application should gain, but I can say that I was breaking the tires loose (that would be all 4) at half throttle last night from a take off. I'm guessing it's a bit more than 30 from that display.

This cam will be kicking *** once we get the idle airflow stuff nailed down.

Cool

That does sound very promising.

Looking forward to hearing about the results after the idle tuning is in place.

I have no doubt that it would idle very close to stock on a truck with only a slight idle rpm raising.... however... I'm running a magnacharger with a 2.9 pulley and 2005 E-fans. The supercharger and fans require a little more idle work. Everytime the A/C kicked on the idle would end up rolling and occasionally dieing. We tried several settings with higher idle and more rpm with A/C on. Still wanted to roll.

Funny thing is that we took off the e-fans (back to stock fan temporarily... maybe permanently) and it idles perfectly. All we can figure is that those fans make a big drag spike on the alternator when they come on and that causes problems.

I may go back to the e-fans but I might not. Too soon to make a decision right now.

I guess the constant drag of the stock fan makes it a hell of a lot easier for the pcm to learn idle.

Another nice note is that cam does not tick or have any "sewing machine" sound. Quite impressive for a .600 lift cam. The only real underhood noise is the motron 60's ticking at idle Well, that and the factory fan spinning! And no you couldn't hear any valve train noise with the e fans not running, either

Here's the post on this cam over at LS1 tech...With dyno numbers and vid on last page.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...6&page=1&pp=10

Now i'm not one to use the Butto meter but I would have to say it fills really strong on Cory's 6800 lb hummer. It takes a good amount of power to make that thing even fill different at WOT. This cam actully gives a lot more low end tq and screams at WOT....Fills like a lot more then 34 RWHP...and probably is with the stock exhaust with magnuson

Jimbob

Oh yeah...the actual cam spects were 214.9/232.5 @ 116.9 lsa with .600 intake lift and .580 Exhaust lift....

first off, congrats!

questions: what made you decide on this Cam?

I like the lift on this Cam and the -10deg overlap (hence low boost loss) and the fact that it was designed to enhance the entire rpm band.

I also like the 230deg duration on the exhaust side in a stock headed application!, and, I would speculate that a free flowing exhaust would greatly enhance this combo, now, more than ever.
