lots of easy torque for a 4.8?!?!
after seeing these numbers on stock 5.3Ls compared to my 4.8L w/ hamms, catback, intake, hypertech... i was thinking more about that crank swap. I talked to valvegod about the parts, and from what he said all you would need is a ls1 crank (same stroke as a 5.3, prob same part number?), and new rods. 250 for the crank and 125 for the rods. On the dyno i had 243rwhp and 256, so if a 5.3L dynos STOCK at around same horespower but ALOT more torque. So im sure i would gain alot from just swapping the crank.
the reason i looked into this more is because a whole engine swap will prob cost too much and this would probably cost a few hundred more than a custom cam swap, if i do this AND a ls6 cam (total parts cost of around 700-725).
what do you guys think? it would work as planed right?

Wait a few months to see how Jason's JPE 6.0L engine turns out before you decide
Instead of making your 4.8L a 5.3L, think about doing the 5.7L reciprocating assembly into your 4.8L block. These are probably more plentyful than any of the other combinations and would give some compression also. With this route, you wouldn't have to have it balanced either. The only downfall is if your block can't take the overbore, we've heard of them taking it fine though.
This was originally what Jason's truck was going to get, till he bought the '01 6.0L engine.

lol, that sucks, dont tease me like that , i dont think i will be able to afford a 6.0L or something like that. and i dont know about boring it, just because if they are already hesiant as to if it can hold it... thats not cool since i have 100shot... I think if i want to do that in the future it will work out perfect though (5.7L) because all i would have to do is bore or buy the block, then just get the pistons and what not and im set ill already have the crank and cam for it. like i said, i would love to do that but i just dont think money will let me
but... it will be a few months before any of that stuff happens anyways. i think the only mods till then will be a bottle heater maybe (i dunno yet) and some bfg dr's, well, i have autotap and a maft comming next week but that doesnt really count as a mod...
