Dont know much about GTO's huh? My little "Car" weighs 3800 lbs, pretty close (4-500 lbs) to a STD 1500 cab pickup. My demands on my car's drivetrain are actually similar to a truck where as a vette weighs in at 3100-3200 lbs
Sorry, but NO. Yours demands in a small gto are nothing compared to a truck weighing a minimum of 1000lbs more PLUS whatever is being towed/hauled. Your GTO also has far less parasitic loss than a truck, be it from transmission, rear end, or tires/wheels.

Im saying that Cams that EDC, and Comp recommends for GTO's are "Similar" to trucks based on the weights. To the OP, if you are thinking of Cams, as before, tighten up that LSA, keep port velocity up in your heads, OR get a maggie!!!

Do you guys not like "Car" guys in here posting in threads.............is the original SBC some sacred cow that can't be held accountable for its shortcomings? Its not like I don't drive that 1500 ECSB 5.3 in my Avatar on a regular basis

No, we're just pointing out that you're being rediculous saying a stock LS2's 400 ft lbs of torque means jack **** at 4400rpm. Have you ever driven a truck with an old SBC? Sure it doesn't make gobs of power, but it has all of its power off idle, which is very important in the truck market, and is why many older guys still don't like the LS based platform motors in their trucks.

Yes 93 350 CI K1500 SCLB was the truck I grew up onwas/is a good truck engine, but I would much rather have a newer 6.0 half ton, the TQ is just endless, it just doesn't STOP at 4500 rpms. ..........Have you ever driven a GTO? What I have and have not driven has no basis for the good information I have provided to the OP as a way to use the power the newer engines can provide. That question is really just condescending. Sure its only 300 lb ft off idle, but it stays there all the way up to fuel shut off. Put a decent cam in there, and its even better. That is my opinion. I think the newer engines make good power, its the TM, the converters, and the 4l60 transmissions that leave much to be desired.

Ridiculous?.........thats a bit strong

For towing, even my 403 is lacking N/A and with the turbo. I'm hoping that I have some great throttle response once I put the 2300 on it...but I've been disappointed with it's towing ability in all forms that I've had the truck through so far. In all honesty, the 5.3/4L60E/Radix was probably the best setup I've had so far for towing. The 4L80E that I had with the 6.0/Radix setup ate up all the low end torque.

And yes, I've driven a GTO. They have a completely different feeling to them than the trucks do.

Quick Reply: low-end torque+ LSx motor, is it possible?
