The cleaner I used was a throttle body/carb cleaner.

Ill bet it is the fuel pressure regulator because i have a 00 silverado that studdered and sometimes turned over quite a few times before starting and then i replaced that and now its fine again, my cousin had the same problem on his with even less miles.

Calling up an old post ( I did use the "search" function! ) due to a similar condition on my bro's 99 Silvo.
Poor idle, sometimes dies when going into drive/reverse, OK once rolling, starts fine, SES for lean condition on both fuel banks. Checked the fuel pressure, it was about 55psi at idle, initially goes to 60 once the throttle is open but drops to 50psi under load. No fuel present in the vacuum source or in the regulator itself. BTW, does the plastic ring go before or after the o-ring? The assembly came apart and I was not sure. I have the o-ring butting up to the small filter in the fuel rail, then the plastic ring, then the regulator.
This started after he ran out of gas a few times and I found the MAF had come loose from the Volant box ( he beats on it sometimes ). Cleaned the air filter, replaced the fuel filter, used some cheap injector cleaner, etc. The Seafoam/TB cleaner sounds like a good place to start, so does the IAC and MAF clean too.
Sorry to hijack, thanks for any suggestions!

Found my problem, the tube from the EGR to the manifold had broken in two and was sucking air all the time. Temp plug, idle is fine and engine runs much, much better.

Help, I am having the same problem w/ my wifes Tahoe.
It is an 01 model - 5.3 w/ 75K - It does not have the cable going to the throttle body.
I changed the plugs NGK TR55 and Taylor wires
Cleaned the T.B.

So do I or do I not have and IAC that ya'll were talking about???
Where is it?

IAC=Idle air control valve, your truck doesn't have it, the PCM uses throttle blade angle to control the idle. You could also try cleaning the MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) with electronics cleaner (MAF is located on the air filter box), change the fuel filter, check the fuel pressure regulator for leakage (located in the center of the driver's side fuel rail, pull the vacuum hose off of it, if fuel drips out, it's no good), try cleaning the injectors, and do a top end clean with SeaFoam.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll check the fuel reg. and maf tonight.
I did the seafoam on my Camaro so I try it also this weekend.

I read something about a throttle position sensor.
Could that be the problem also - If my truck comes w/it???
