Hopefully something simple that was overlooked... maybe an unplugged coil pack?

Wouldn’t be that loud just because 2 plugs weren’t firing right? Found some metal in the oil.

Yeah definitely not. Sounds like a bearing issue to me. If you caught it soon enough you may be able to replace the bearings and clean everything up as long as the crank isn’t scarred at all.

Sounds very similar like when we bent a factory rod and the crank was hitting the bottom of the piston. Actually 2, But there was no metal in the oil.

Definitely a mechanical issue. Be curious what the tear down reveals

Heart breaking but oh well it was my first attempt rebuilding a motor with no experience. I torqued all these arp bolts to spec with a digital torque wrench and the arp lube that comes with the bolts. I wonder if the bearing slipped out of place while installing rod cap and I missed it. Either way I need yalls advice from here.,

Should I buy a different crank and one replacement rod and run it? Everything else looks great from what I can tell so far.

Oh boy this has me feeling all sorts of ways since I just finished my first rebuild. Sucks to see but while its apart you could always go forged!

When you pulled the pan the rod was like that in picture 1? Man no good gotta pay more attention to the details. The crank journal looks pretty bad, I would replace the crank or have a machine shop see if they could polish it out and rod and also pull the other pistons especially the dead cylinder to see if maybe you broke a ring when installing them. Glad you got it apart so quick, it’s all just a big learning lesson so take it as that, my first motor I put together smoked like crazy because I used some cheap rings that sucked in it, I tried everything I could before tearing it back apart to re ring it and when I did it was super easy and I wish I would have done that from the start but like I said it’s all learning lessons.
