is this going to be a n/a motor? if so, not worth the time or money to swap from lq4 pistons to lq9 pistons...... just my opininon. If you are going to open up the motor, replace the stock stuff with something better.

As long as your putting the pistons back on the same rods and journals they came off, shouldn't need to worry.. If the engine is together switching to the lq9 pistons is pointless.. You are only talking .3 points in compression or so

Sounds to me like your going backwards and speinding more money then you need to.. I would find a set of 243 heads and have them worked, vs having all the work done to a 5.3 head, unless Dave is giving you a SUPER deal.. Just saying.. The next as far as cam goes is going to be the truck intake, if you plan to build a rever, the truck intake starts to flat line at about 61-6200 vs the TBSS or ls6..

Stock parts with good valvetrain and rod bolts to go against a old school small block built the same way and all motor and 5.3 heads to have a smaller chamber without having to shave them a lot don't want to affect intake alignment plus I have three sets

Unless you need the strength the forged piston is just going to give you weight reduction which makes a difference but could require a rebalance. The valve reliefs on most flat top forged pistons are around 5cc's vs the LQ9 flat top at 0cc's. I do know a guy that could build a custom set of forged flat top's with no relief's that could light or factory weight...

the guy with the gen 1 350 has a stock lt1 (1973) flat top version , vortec heads 906 castings heavily worked , victor jr intake solid roller dynoed around 520 hp, he put it in his 87 blazer and thinks he is the fastest thing around and says i cant build a stock bottom end 6.0 to beat him so now you guys know the whole deal .... and the loser reserves right to tear apart winners engine , i look foward to whoopin on him i only need it to last three runs , hopefully longer
