I would really like to keep the drive by wire. I like the throttle response after tuning.

If it comes with a harness and PCM, I'd use that one, slap it all in as a unit. If not I believe that some wiring to the 80E will be necessary (not sure how involved this is, but there should be info in the 80E swap threads in the Drivetrain section), and you'll need the 80E segment flashed into your current PCM, as well as having the PCM tuned for the 6.0 You should be able to use your DBW set up going the second route

I prefer cable driven, but that's just me

I don't think you quite understand yet what all is involved with a complex 80E swap. It's more involved than just swapping over all your accessories from the 5.3L to the new 6.0L. Keep your 60E until it dies then build it up later with the proper internal parts to handle the power. Unless you are AWD, making incredible power or you own an HD truck, there is absolutely no reason a 60E wont do the job once gone through and built right.

There's nothing complex about an 80e swap on a 2wd (Im fairly certain the OP is 2wd) and one of the main draws to the 80 I believe is the fact that it can be done for 1/3 the price of a fully built 60e that may or may not be comparable to the stock 80e's power handling capability.

I doubt the 1/3 price tag, but I congratulate anyone who can wheel and deal for cheaper prices when they build on a budget.

The 60E has more advantages to it than the 80E so when I build for quickness and reliability, price is an afterthought and is completely irrelevant to me.

Judging based on the OP's questions, I'd say the 80E is complex for him at the moment and is out of reach until he researches further. If and when the OP is in need of a stronger transmission than the one he has, I encourage Jtbrewer19 to PM me for more information and I will get him in touch with my son who builds bullet proof 60E's for a living. My son wont sell to anyone who isn't local but there are plenty of tid bits of information he's willing to share to other enthusiasts for building strong drivetrain components.

i ve heard that 80e r just power robbers. and i got my 60e built for bout 680 and thats with a cooler but with out a converter. which he already has 1. just got 2 do sum more research 2 make sure the 60e will work if u get rid of the spacer. and my tranny guy is confident that my 60e will hold 450 to 500 rwhp like is. idk the price on gettin a 80e or gettin 1 built but gettin a 60e built good 4 under 1g doesnt seem bad 2 me.

Might better ,just do an 80e or youll wish you did it later .when i was pushing 450 -500 hp i still ate up 5 ,60e trannies .if youre set on the 60 ,then i would atleast get the 65 upgrade, servo ,shift kit ,5 pinion planets, beast sunshell, etc.try to build the crap out of it ,trust me ,been theyre done that.If you plan on having a hard shift in it ,get billet input /output shafts.granted ,none of this stuff is on a budget youlle wish you did it when your changin trannies over and over,i broke 2 input and 2 output shafts.Good luck to ya.
