Default LQ9/4 or LS2? Which one and why??

I am planning on doing a motor swap in my truck, and am weighing the pros and cons of the diff. engines available. I will probably be going with a stroked version from SDPC. I am leaning towards an LS2, just so i can say i have an LS2 truck.

Is the weight the only advantage the LS2 has?

Would it really be worth the price diff. and the extra steps to swap to a Gen 3.5?

i'd say yes it would be worth it. the weight savings off the front of the truck will not only get you about .1 of a second in the 1/4 mile but the front and rear weight ratio of the truck will be closer so you'll get a little improved handling too.

i think it depends on your goals...

do you wanna go all motor, do you wanna boost it, bragging rights, for the hell of it, etc. etc.

Yeah, i already have plans for a 4l80 and a different rear end. i am really leaning towards the LS2, but i don't want to be the guinea pig that finds out that it's a PITA to put one in a truck
