LQ9 with 5.3 P&P heads??

Default LQ9 with 5.3 P&P heads??

How would a LQ9 work with a set of 5.3(706)P&P heads and with all bolt ons?
Will the compression be high with the 5.3 heads p&p?

I asked the same question to Richard at WCCH. He said the compression would be higher but the intake valve would be too small. He recommended using 6.0 heads or LS6 heads.

It will be ~11:1

Patriot has bare casting 243 heads for 385 you could have a ncie set if you shp aorund for around 500, thats what Ill have into my heads with 918 springs on them and still have brand new heads basically

the camaro croud sure likes to put the 5.3 heads on their ls1's...why is that?

for the added compression, but Im pretty most of the time they go up to bigger vavles & unshroud the chamber.

I've started work on my 5.3 heads finally... I've got the bowl throats "rough cut" in to let me start porting. I will be running 2.05/1.6 stainless valves that I got on Ebay and unshrouding the chambers to work with the 6.0's larger bore. The target compression ratio will be around 10.5:1 with the reworked heads.

i am running 5.3 heas on my 6.0 and now i am running the same heads on my 370ci i would put the bigger valves in them but yes u can run them and no the com will not be that high around 10.7.

the 6.0 heads are way better than the Ls1 and 5.3 heads to begin with. Ls1 and 5.3 are comprable.

They are popular because you can port the pee out of them and still have a smaller chamber than a stock LS1 head without having to mill them. Mill them a bit and it really ups their CR.
