Okay. So I eluded to this in my introduction. but now for the details. I have owned this truck since I was 15. it currently sits at 263K. The Vortec 305 was air locked and over heated around 189, and being young, I was talked into buying a rebuilt Vortec 305 with, what i now know to be, an RV cam...*GASP* I know I know...I hate it every second of my life. Which brings me to this point. I have found a fairly local salvage yard here in GA (McCartys) nothing but good things about them, has a couple LQ9's. Im definitely open to any other suggestions within 2-3 hours, or shipped reasonably on one. But aside from that, I intend on buying the mounts, Using a nelson harness, and just listening to all the tips and tricks here, and following others swap threads. My other questions being on the Trans. the old 4L60E is pretty well shot, trying to keep a pretty low budget, so should i swap to a 4L80E, if so what would it involve. All input is appreicated.
