I think heads, cam, and nitrous is the way to go. i wish I wouldve gone that way. If I had it to do over I wouldve gotten a 6.0 ($1200), cam with pushrods ($600), and nitrous ($800). Thats alot less than I spent and that setup would SMOKE mine!! Live and Learn

the thing to remember about getting 450rwhp naturally asperated is that it's going to require alot of stall converter to make that work which isn't going to be very good for "truck" type uses.

yeah I think I will just shoot for around 400+ rwhp proabbly due a decent cam in the 5.7 and swap on my 5.3 heads with a p/p job so that should pump up the HP and throw in some nitrous for the track.

can u really get that much more power out of a 6L over a 5.7?? and i always thought Ls6 heads are better than the 5.3 heads, why would u not opt for a set of those instead?

5.3 liter heads will make it have a higher compression ratio to squeeze out a little more and really doesnt change much else. So really I can either get a long block ls1 with the ls1 heads or a shortblock and put on my 5.3 heads just kind of depends on which way comes out best when I jump into this(money wise).

when you do go "all out", dont waste all your money trying to squeeze that last lil bit of hp outta your motor to reach your 400rwhp goal. A head, cam combo on an ls1 is gonna kick *** no matter what with the proper bolt ons and tuning.

exactly it's all about the budget buildup, Heads I will most llikely just swap my 5.3 heads and the cam, so wouldn't it be best for me just to get a ls1 shortblock if I reuse my 5.3 heads?
