Old thread bump.. I have a stock 2000 ls1 cam from my dad's formula in my garage (1998 - 2000 Fbody 202/210 int/exh @ 0.05" duration 0.496" / 0.496" int/exh lift 116 LSA), which is an 11* intake and 20* exhaust bump in duration over my 5.3 stock, about .04 more lift aswell. My plans are only tuning and longtubes. I intend to keep a smooth idle and good mileage along with full towing capacity. Time spent (or "wasted") on install isn't a big concern. Mod for mod, could I expect 10 horsepower over the stock 5.3 cam? Compression and everything else is a factor, but ls1's have a nicer idle imo than the blub-blub of a truck.

Check my sig. I did the 98-99 spec. LS1 cam w/ a hair more dur. but at the same time did heads and injtrs, tuned & headers, It runs pretty good for a 5500lb daily driver, and good fuel mileage, A very streetable 13.9's on motor, no stall, the 410 gear made a huge diff.. It depends what you want to spend and how streetable you want it to be.. A good tune for it would make it run better than installing that cam..

That's funny, because my 2000 Ext cab only weighed in at ~4500.

And you'll need more nitrous

plan was to install and get a wheatley in truck tune or another local. The stock tune is horrid and pisses me off immensely. My setup will be extremely mild, lightish for a full size truck, and the truck only has 50K miles and doesn't appear to have been ragged on (old man truck). I'm thinking 100% tm delete would be safe on this one

Forget the cam! First get a Tun, exhaust, and a better intake. It is not all the expensive and you will notice the difference! Especially after a tune!
