LS1 fan swap question
What all is involved in this? Is it expensive? Is there noticable power gains?

Re: LS1 fan swap question
Not too expensive...I would say easily less than $150...I got a steal on my fans and got away for under $125.
Check out www.tacreationsusa.com. They're fairly reasonable on their prices. I had a friend do the install, but it looked fairly straight-forward. Do a search in this forum for electric fans or LT1 fans and you should have more info than you could possibly ever use!
I noticed a little SOTP difference. The truck runs cool even with the A/C on in the summer!
Good luck...a worthwhile mod!

Re: LS1 fan swap question
Got my fans for $75. You can use LT1 or LS1 fans and they will be plenty for the designed use of a 1500 series truck. There are many ways of wiring them up. Some use "always on w/ign", "one on w/ign, one switched (like me)", AC relay on, t-stat switch, etc...But always use a relay setup for wiring. Let us know how you want to run them and we can help you out if you need it.

Re: LS1 fan swap question
1.) remove shroud and fan blade/clutch assembly.
2.) mount electric fan assmebly
3.) wire fans to run as prefered (see fast4.8's post)
Not too dificult and requires no alteration of pullies or belts.

Re: LS1 fan swap question
I have a set of LS1 fans and was wondering what I would need to setup the fans to come on at 175 and have a manual override switch just incase they don't come on at the desired temp.
Thanks,
Lar

Re: LS1 fan swap question
Check out www.permacool.com and in the online catalog section click on electric fan accessories. they have a few different wiring kits that will fit all of the above applications.
