Nice choice, what cam are you going with? I thought the DARTs were only offered in a 225, they are gonna perform great in the as cast shape, if your machinist thinks you can gain anything from a valve job I would definately do that.

It depends on the cam as to whether or not ID port em anything over 222 duration and Id go with a small stage 1 job if your going for a bigger cam around 230 Id go with a stage 2 but I wouldnt remove alot of material. Id be concerned more with velocity than peak flow numbers, I think the smaller intake runners help with a heavier vehicle and an NA setup.

I'm going with the comp 222/224,.566/.568,112 sep with the 1.75 rockers. I think these are the specs. I was going to go with the 224/226 dur but this might be too big. The heads already have an 3 angle valve jod on them I believe in the as cast......I will be putting in a 34 or 36 stall also. Sure, I agree with the smaller ports will help. I'm just pondering with this...can't make up my mind!!!

too large of a head on a 5.3 will hurt performance. large heads like large cubes

I know....this is why I went with the 205's and not the 225's. I just wanted to get some opinions on getting these cnc'd or just leave them in the as cast.

i would leave them be, 5.3 heads are enough actually for a decent build up to begin with.
