Default ECM mapping

On the GM Hot Cam, it is not a "have to" requirement to map the ECM. The GM ASE Technician can set the vehicle to "learn" mode and re/tune the OE ECM. The cam will make a noticable diffrence in the idle, but the vehicle will run and run good.

I reccomend the "aftermarket" tuning...(NelsonPerformance)....because you just get so much more power besides the cam. But don't tell the GM Dealer you're going to have a Custom tuned ECM, and they'll not say anything.

Like I said in my other reply....it is at the Dealers discretion, and it for a legal protection purpose. My dealership has no problem with the install, even with the custom tune, hell....you're spending your hard earned money with us...why should we be dicks?

But the warranty is void if the cam is put in a 4.8L engine. That cam was designed for the 5.7L LS1 only.

hey man, the LS1 5.7 "350" is the same design as the Gen 3 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 engines. It's called the LS1 basis design, the 5.7LS1 block is the same design as the 4.8,5.3 and 6.0 Gen 3's. Exactly the same, geometricly, physically and all the way to the engine cast. Why do you think this website is called LS1tech and they have a Truck Forum, and all of these guys interchange and use LS1 parts on the Gen. 3 truck engines.

Go buy you a set of used LS1 heads from a SS Camaro or Trans-Am and they will bolt right on to your engine. And, you'll get a bit more horsepower too.
