I think I might have that route the picture above and below have the 5.3 with the stock belt system and I think this new route will work. It's the red lines from pully to pully.

just do it.....hehe, i have mine torn down right now...Sunday when i get back home i'll draw that path up and bolt the waterpump on and see how long the belt would need to be. i can't remember though, does the tensioner move farther UP, when the belt is removed from it than it does when the belt is on??? that would make a big difference in length...

also, will not having as long of a belt alter the speed, or ratio or whatever that things turn at??? i wouldn't think it would since everything is still turning in relation to the crank pulley, but not 100% sure. let me know, and i'll do some measuring Saturday night, or Sunday morning.

No it wouldnt change any of the ratios, only a changed pully would. Man, if this works it would save some people from changing all of the accessories to the LS-1 ones.

well, to do this you would have to cut a chunk of the alt. bracket off to clear the driver side of the TB, as well as do an alternate belt route. it wouldn't be that hard, i'll be doing it in switching to an LSX manifold...i've thought about switching to Fbody accessories all together, or even corvette

only prob i see with runnin the belt like the picture above is that the crank pully looses over half its contact. the waterpump pully is what wraps alot of "meat" around the crank pully. i think with a high horsepower motor, that your belt will slip like a bananna peel on ice. since my motor is supercharged.. my supercharger pully will allowe me to go over the top of the intake and keep the belt in the same lower configuration.. i will loose about an inch of contact on my whipple pully though... it seems like a dammed if you do , dammed if you dont kinda situation.
