I have not posted much on here as of late but I need to ask for your "expert" opinions. I recently took my engine apart to diagnose a valve train noise which turned out to be multiple worn lobes on my custom Patrick G Comp Cam (specs in signature). To make a long story short, I lost oil pressure for 5-10 seconds and this was the result.
Anyways, I am going to replace as opposed to fix because I do not know the extent of the damage and the 5.3 has 122K on it. The engine is out and I am waiting to purchase a replacement.
Now my dilemma: I have found a 23,000 mile LS1 from a 2004 GTO and a zero mile (yes, zero) LQ4 from a 2005 Silverado HD. Both are around the same price at $1600 a piece. I have all the modifications in my signature and have already purchased an EPS cam from Geoff Skinner with specs of 222/226 .597"/.598" on 112+4. I feel the cam will compliment either engine.
What I am asking for is your opinion on which engine I should go for and why. Thanks for your help!

Use the 6.0....and tell me where I can find the LS1 for $1600
Id go with the aluminum block engine for the weight, but since you have the extra mass of a 4x4 it would be better to go with the 6L in my opinion.

When I bought my 99K mile LQ4 for only $900, I also had a LS1 AND Harness in front of me for $1,100.
