They say you don't gain anything from the LS1/6 intake unless you're takin it above 6200rpm...cost is one reason for going with an LS1/6 intake over the VIC JR intake like Parish has. I think he said he has close to 1k in his intake setup. They also say the Vic Jr is more for stroker type engines. Prolly lose a lot of low end on smaller engines like ours. Reading over on tech they still have problems with the cylinders goin lean with the LS1 intake...Haven't read too much about the LS6...cost to much for me

The truck intake has been proven to outperform and flow the ls1 intake. Sorry.
The ls6 outflows the truck and ls1. If your not reving over 6k the ls6 will nto be worth it. But for many of us truck guys reving to 6200+ this intake will allow our cammed 5.3/6.0's to carry their potential power into the low-mid 6k rpms. instead of running out of air around 5200.

Considering most of the people here doing these swaps are running larger cams (220+ durations), or ported heads, or more displacement, or combinations of all three, I think this mod will prove itself to be worth while.
Take a look at the graphs in the truck dyno list thread. You'll see all sorts of N/A combos whose hp curves just stop climbing at 5200-5500 rpm. Why do these same cams pull all the way to 6K+ in LS1s yet stop well shy of that in smaller 5.3s? The answer is the intake cannot supply the volume of air needed in the high rpm range. Plenum volume of a truck intake is a full liter less than a LS6.

And an FYI for those of you saying the LS6 swap is not worth it unless you spin past 6000rpm.... In any cammed truck the stock intake stops power rediculously @ around 5200rpm, an LS6 does not lose power below that and only gains more above that. All this is due to the prior stated plenum volume increase. I would not waste my time with an LS1 intake.
It was a must for me to ditch the stock intake, when I first got down the track with my old H/C set-up my truck fell flat on it's face 2/3 to 3/4 of the way down the 1320. My mph was only 94! when it should have been easily over 100 It was actually rather embarassing.
I went with the vic jr. for the purpose of my new set-up being spun to 7200rpm. And to all together avoid the leaning issue which is still affected with an LS6 intake and the FAST intakes.

water pump
Anybody here actually pulled the upper hose fitting out of their water pump and put another one back in. If so, how and did it seal good. I'm needing to do this on my 96 S10 Blazer so the hose will clear out of the way of my CAI. I have a 2005 5.3 with DBW tb and truck intake. Thanks
