If you weren't far away, I'd help you swing it in. I'm actually pulling the 5.3 out of my Avalanche on Friday and dropping in a 6.0 that I picked up. A good cam and some LS2 heads with upgraded springs and I'll be ready to rock! I figure probably take all day. I have most of the process worked out in my head.

The only trucks that received a 6.0 were the 1500HD, Silverado SS, and 2500 series and up. The 2500 Series Avalanche did come with the 8.1. The 1500 only got a 5.3 which is bad. It weighs 5600 lbs.

ok so i am set on what i want for now. i know that they make a supercharger for for the 4.8L too but first thing is the instalments then maybe the super or procharger. i have heard good reviews on prochargers for the 4.8L.

You could either get yourself some more displacement, or go with a power adder. One of the benefits to going right to a power adder is that you won't suffer from the lower fuel economy of a bigger engine.

Don't do a power chip like Hypertech, anyone will tell you that. You can do a mail order tune or pick up HP Tuners and DIY. There is a lot of information out there on tuning.
