Default ls1 swap?

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put a motor that came out of a 2002 camaro SS in my truck. I have the 4.8 right now with about 105,000 miles and runs great but want more power. Would it be too complicated to do and even worth it.

Not complicated at all. Do what I did and use the LS1 block and heads and everything else off the 4.8 will bolt right up.
I love the LS1 in my truck.

use all of your 4,8 stuff and use your factory harness and pcm and tell nelson what you done and get a tune upgrade for the ls1.

would the performance difference be quite noticable. I figure it prolly should because of the torque difference.

I will be very noticable, especially going from a 4.8 to a 5.7

It would be a GREAT idea. Trust me I know. I had a 4.8 with around 25k on it but killed it. So I put a LS1 from a 2002 Firehawk and it made a huge difference. It was literally a new truck. Are you talking about getting the shortblock or the block,heads,intake,etc...? Im using the truck intake,TB, heads, and accessories and if you do this its a direct swap.

I put a 6.0 in mine with a big cam, and rode in a 2wd with a LS1 and the TR224 NICE. I think I like it better than my 6l

what do you think a good price to pay for just the block and the heads? the guy i work with took it out of a 2002 camaro ss with about 40k miles on it. he hasn't given me a price yet but it is just sitting there in the shop.
