LS1 swapped into truck! 56k warning
I finally installed the LS1 that I have had for 6 months into my truck. And all I can say is WOW. My set up consists of an LS1 from a camaro SS, 4L65e built by Jag Performance, Thunder Racing TR224 Cam, Comp Cam 918 Valve Springs, and a Yank 3000 Torque Converter. I also had it Tuned at Nelson Performance. This thing really makes me realize how much of a dog my 4.8 was. The cam pulls hard all the way to 6400 rpms, and 100 mph comes up very fast. I plan to make it to the track when the it reopens after the holidays.

Very cool.
When it comes time to replace my 4.8, I'm still undecided on what to get. I've been wanting a 6.0, but I think I'd be real happy with a LS1 also.
By the way the stripes on the hood look great.

Yes, the last pic is the final product. My sig is a little outdated. The engine is a 98', so it has the perimiter bolt valve covers.
We had a few hangups during the swap, but nothing that couldnt be fixed fairly easily. On the 98's, each of the coils bolted to the valve covers individually. While on the centerbolt valve covers they have a bracket to hold all four. We had to end up puting the bracket a little off center so it would bolt up, but its not noticible at all. Also being that my truck only has about 3" of ground clearence, my tranny crossmember was pretty beat up. It took a pry bar to get it out of the brackets. I also managed to break off a header bolt inside the head, so we had to drill and tap it out. Those are pretty much the only hangups we had with the install. Dyno numbers will come shortly.
