Default ls2 timing cover on a 5.3 ?

i saw the for sale thread about a ls2 cam and springs and was wondering if i could put a ls2 front timing cover and cam sensor on a 5.3 if i use the ls2 timing set and and a cam sensor extension harness.

Yes, you can use a Gen IV timing cover on a Gen III motor with no issues, but unless you find all the parts pretty cheap, by the time you buy them and the extension harness you may find that you could have just bought a cam. On the other hand if you change over to a Gen IV style now, you will already have that much out of the way when it comes time to looking for a bigger replacement motor. A LY6 or something similar shure would work good in there........LOL
