Default LS6 cam in a 5.3?

hi guys. i posted here a while back about an LS6 that i was going to put in my 99 silverado. I've decided putting off on the engine install for at least another 2 years because i simply don't feel like doing it right now. (i have to do some work to the block and maybe might even do a stroker kit in it.) anyways, i was wondering if the LS6 cam would be a good choice for my truck to get more power, since i have the all the parts i need (cam, valve springs etc.) i can just steal them out of the engine since i'm not doing anything with it right now. or should i go with an aftermarket cam? if so which one. i don't really want to lose torque but i want to gain hp on the higher rpms. my main mods are intake, shorty headers, exhaust, and westers 93 hot tune PCM.

why not just put the heads cam and all on the 5.3 if you don't want to swap up now.

I had that cam for a little while in my truck, I strongly reccomend advancing the cam to bring down the power band several hundred rpm's. the cam was awesome on the BIG END, but leaves alot desired on the lowend, not alot of usable horsepower. I ended up going with the comp 212/218 & i am much happier.

With my cam and tune it was alright.... didn't have great low end but wasn't bad. With the stall it is pretty nice..... or should I say would be with traction.

But as crazycutter said..... just advance that bad boy.

I was going to put the heads on also but i heard i will loose a point of compression and don't know if that would be worth it. what do you guys think? will the heads make that much of a difference to make up for the lower compression ratio?

whats the biggest cam anyone has run on the street in a 5.3 with no other mods. I am talking a cam that actually had any "grunt" before 3500rpm? THanks for the help

yeah i saw that artical. i dont think thats a good cam for MY truck. its all high rpm power and they lost a lot of torque down low. so whats the opinions on putting the heads on also? oh also, sorry to be a pain will i be able to run the LS6 cam with the stock converter until i get a higher stall comverter?
