Ls6 Cam/install?
I Have An Ls6 Cam And Springs And Im Planning On Istallin It Within A Month, So Do I Need Longer Pushrods Due T Oa Smaller Base Circle? And Also Will Tuning For This Cam Wake It Up More Or Can I Leave Tuning Stock? Also Is This A Good Torque Cam For A Daily Reliable Driver? Plus I Got It Free!!and What Do I Need For The Install, Will My Lifters Fall? I Have Just Hit 200k On My Motor The Other Day.

7.4 pushrods from comp or the early ls6 pushrods.
now there are two types of LS6 pushrods,
type one is the older LS6 where the push rod is longer.
type two is a stock length push rod because the valve stems on the newer LS6 is longer to make up the slack and so the factory could use the stock length on everything to save a few bucks.
the 7.4 from comp is a thicker rod and a lot stronger.

you're deffinitly going to want to reprogram it. you'll probably be leaving 30 or so hp unused if you keep the stock tune. in a 5.3L the LS6 cam is going to peak hp at around 5800 or so and a 99' 5.3L has a stock rev limiter at around 5600 if i recall correctly. not only is the rev limiter going to be way too low, the shift points will be way off and with the rev limiter that low even manually shifting won't get you where you need to be. this doesn't even count for the V.E. table and spark timing that is going to be considerably off for your application using the stock tables.

Yeah! I just had mine changed today, (push rods) I had the stock push rods from the 5.3 in the motor and they where way too long. I had synergy measure and put in the 7.3's in. The motor was making good power but didn't sound right. I should get some better dyno #'s now. Yes change your push rods!
